Executive Summary

Objective:

To establish the First Annual Manitoba Photographic Arts Expo, a 4 day grand photographic and digital imaging event.

Goals:

To create a unique event to honor and elevate the creative photographic artists of Manitoba. The objective is to inform, educate and showcase Manitoba photographers. From professional to amateur each will have an equal opportunity to exhibit their work. Event workshops in creative image taking skills as well as computer processing techniques will be featured over the four days. A unique print gallery of images by each participating artist will be available for the public to purchase. Daily mentoring programs for amateur, seniors and youth photographers were they have their work critiqued by a professional. A specific vendor gallery hosting local photo, printing and computer retailers to display, demonstrate and sell there products.

Location:

The Forks Market offers a unique and instantly recognized venue to host a special event of this size. The ample parking and on site food venders offers instant appeal. This scenic location has an added advantage for hosting photo work shops. The excellent night security gives piece of mind to vendors as well as exhibitors. Confirmed dates of Thursday, June 19 through to Sunday June 23.

Competitions:

A provincial wide photo competition will be offered to showcase Manitoba Talent in the photographic arts. There will be defined categories that will encompass both amateur and advanced professionals alike, with amateurs winners receiving schooling certificates from local photographic institutions and professionals receiving an agency placements to help further their careers in the photographic arts. A special peoples choice award will also be established utilizing the print gallery exhibit. We are also striving to have Tourism Manitoba, Winnipeg Tourism, Destination Winnipeg and Waterfront Redevelopment Corp sponsor separate calendar competitions with separate wards for each. All class winners will have their work on display at the forks for the duration of the summer.
